Wastewatchers Holiday Club

Wastewatchers is a flexible holiday club resource that explores the themes of God's creation, caring for the environment and Jesus transforming lives. It is ideal for use with 5-11s and includes drama, craft, games, Bible discovery, small-group discussion, creative prayer and more! Scripture Union have partnered with A Rocha, a Christian nature conservation organisation to produce Wastewatchers.

The Wastewatchers Resource Book is a holiday club programme that has been devised from a local church setting and is designed to be used with groups of all sizes. The material includes two family services – one designed to launch the holiday club and the other to round it off. See the contents list below.

Our support material is available on DVD. Five stories retold by Rachel Gardner (co founder of Romance Academy - a sex and relationship educational programme for young people shown on BBC 2) with animated, comical illustrations will ensure the message is fun for all. The DVD also includes the Wastewatchers theme song and the Learn and Remember Bible verse song. The stories used are:

  • Creation: Genesis 1,2
  • Water into wine: John 2:1-12
  • Jesus heals a blind man: John 9
  • Jesus dies and comes back to life again: John 19-20:10
  • Jesus appears to Mary: John 20:11-

Little Green Pages is a 48-page booklet containing Bible passages from Genesis and John's Gospel linked to the holiday club, and zany illustrations, puzzles and useful information that will enable you to include the Bible in your programme. This is ideal for use with 8 to 11s, and is intended both to use in the club and as a souvenir to take home.

You can order the Wastewatchers resource book, DVD, Little Green Pages, and more from the SU online shop .
Publicity materials including posters, banners, invitations for Wastewatchers, T shirts and take-home cards are available separately from Christian Publicity Organisation (CPO) - see link on the right.
