Training

Our staff run a range of training events in different parts of the country. To find out what is happening in your area visit the Count Me In and Contact Us and All Regional Teams pages. Of particular interest to those involved or interested in schools work we run a residential course:

  • Training in Schools Work for those new or fairly new to schools work (including those for whom schools work is only a part of their role) – usually runs every year in the autumn.

The course is typically five days long and runs from Monday lunchtime to Friday lunchtime.  A few months before each course runs, the brochures can be downloaded using the link in the top right of this page.

We are currently developing a local, non-residential version of Training in Schools Work called Bitesize. If you would be interested in this in your area please contact your regional team.

Training in Schools Work course

The next five-day course will be coming soon. Please contact Kim Ross for more details KimR@Scriptureunion.org.uk

Schools work is an increasingly significant area of youth and children’s ministry. This residential course is designed for those with some experience of schools work as well as for those new to this area of ministry – both paid and unpaid. It is suitable for people working in either primary or secondary schools. As well as thinking about the theological underpinning of schools work there will be practical sessions and the opportunity to gain new ideas and insights.

Course content includes:

  • The mission context of schools work
  • The educational context – legislation and its implications
  • Developing partnerships between churches and schools
  • Supporting Christians in the school context
  • The role of Christian groups
  • Enabling and equipping volunteers
  • Assemblies, lessons, and other activities
  • Developing a strategy
  • and much more…

Please contact us if you have any queries about the suitability of the course for your needs. A leaflet giving general details of the course is available to download. The brochure for the next course will be available soon along with the Draft Programme. To download any of these files, just click on the links at the top right of this page.
