I qualified as a State Registered Nurse in 1976, a year after my marriage to Frank, and went on to qualify as a Registered District Nurse – working with children and young people as a volunteer since the age of 16. In 1989 I had a car accident injuring my back and I could no longer nurse. So began a painful journey, but, I believe, a journey that God had planned for me. I did lots of jobs, sometimes more than one at a time, ranging from till work in Sainsburys to a classroom assistant and from part-time youth worker to telephone counsellor for a cot death charity. I qualified as a local preacher in 1995. In 1998 I joined Covenanters as their part-time worker in the South-East. Covenanters then merged with YFC and I was part of the Church Resources Department.
In 2001 I joined the staff of Scripture Union as the evangelist for Surrey, Sussex and Kent. I then went on to manage our family ministry project for three years. In 2007 I took up the post of evangelist for Devon and Cornwall, and in 2010 I began my present role. My ministry includes working with churches and other agencies, particularly in the area of discipling young people and helping families to grow their faith together (see Families), and also in consultation, training, preaching and support. Frank and I live in Bude on the beautiful north Cornish coast and we have two adult daughters, Katie and Emma.
