Margaret Lilley

South West Team Leader based in Bristol

When I was 15, I recall becoming a Christian at a beach mission. It all suddenly made sense, remembering the teaching of Bible stories from my Sunday School days. Before joining the staff of Scripture Union, I used to work as a Learning Support Assistant at a local junior school and while I was there, I set up a Christian club on a Wednesday lunchtime. Forty pupils came along to it each week and heard about how God loved and cared for them. I was also able to invite people in to speak in RE lessons as well as assemblies and occasional lunchtime Christian concerts. I married Chris and we now have two grown-up children, Matthew and Rachael.

I lead the regional team in the South West and enjoy working with staff and volunteers in our region.  I feel very privileged to work in a beautiful part of the country, with so many opportunites to inspire, equip, and motivate individuals and churches to serve children, young people and families in their communities.   I have a real passion to see children develop a relationship with Jesus and volunteers to grow in experience and confidence through hands on and training courses.

Part of my work involves co-coordinating ‘The Max’ which is an X:Site programme in Bristol.  Being a school Governor, mentoring a number of childrens workers in the Bristol area and doing consultancy work with churches for their childrens work.
