Scripture Union supports a number of local missions throughout the UK. A number follow a traditional 'beach mission' model, while others take place in towns and inner city areas.
One of the largest missions in the country takes place every summer in the small town of Hexham in Northumberland. This hugely successful mission has been running for over 40 years and will take place in 2013 from 21 - 26 July.
The Hexham model is based around a number of churches running together to do a large joint Scripture Union holiday club and to supplement that with other mission activities, especially events for families and outreach to young people. To get a better idea of what goes on, why not read our report on Hexham Mission 2012.

Byker and Longbenton Community Missions
We are partnering with churches in Longbenton and Byker this summer to run a programme of activities in their local communities. This will include holiday clubs, lunch clubs, youth meetings and community fun days – according to local needs. Dates are as follows:
Longbenton Community Mission: 21 - 26 July 2013
Byker Community Mission: 27 July - 3 August 2013
Teams will be needed with both up-front and practical skills. Teams will be a combination of local people and Scripture Union volunteers who will be able to stay in the area.
