Development Worker (Church & Community) based in the Midlands
I love God and I love children, and I am so grateful that my work with Scripture Union allows me to combine these two. I am enthusiastic to share the Bible with children wherever I can. This often starts with a church wanting to reach out to the children in their area and leads to special outreach clubs for children in the church or in the local school.
Children that I meet in schools, clubs or family services, are invited to come to camp at The Lagger (the name means long narrow field). Camp gives a chance for relationships to grow with us and with Jesus, through a range of Bible activities, wood crafts, games and camp fires. For more information on Lagger Camps please email me.
My family has always been involved in this work. I met my wife, Judy, at Criccieth Holiday Club (Beach Mission). Our two sons, Gareth and Mark, have shared in lots of activities and now that they are grown up, they are still on the teams for the Lagger Camps. We also lead the The Family Bible Holiday at Great Wood over the first Bank Holiday weekend in May.
I am always amazed by the questions that children ask about God, Jesus and the Bible, which I try to answer with a verse from the Bible (Click to download Answering Children's Questions Bookmark
). This has led to the book So, Why God?, all about helping children to find such answers through a series of club sessions. I have also recently co-written some of the Top Tips series, 'Explaining the Cross', 'Helping a Child Respond to Jesus' and 'Running a Holiday Club'
We help to run X:site Gloucester, a bi-monthly celebration for 7-11s, to link in with Lagger Camps and help children go on with God.
