Colin Draper

Evangelist serving Lincs & Notts working with Faith4Families

I live in Lincoln with my wife Beryl and we have two adult children, Laura and Nathan. I am an ardent West Ham United fan but do not get much opportunity to watch them! I worked for nearly 30 years as a children's evangelist with Scripture Union, before moving to work for Faith4Families. Before joining SU I was a teacher in east London and a volunteer for fifteen years on the Bude beach mission. During my time with SU I was heavily involved with the Perranporth beach mission, Spring Harvest, the Keswick Convention and the Diploma in Children's Evangelism and Nurture at Cliff College. By contrast I also minister in rural situations where I seek to help churches reach out to local children and families.

My great love is to share the good news of Jesus Christ with children and their families. My real desire is for children to have the opportunity to hear the gospel and respond appropriately. Over the years many have done this and gone on to live for the Lord. Often this work is unseen, but sometimes one finds out many years later that God has been at work in young lives. I also enjoy the challenge of working in teams, encouraging others to share the gospel.

I work with churches to help them:

  • look at ways to bring children and the church together – through all-age worship and other activities,
  • look at their children's ministry and, where necessary, to help them improve it,
  • to plan and run outreach to children and families,
  • to hold special events such as fun days, holiday clubs and term-time missions,
  • to train adults in children's ministry,
  • to explore new ways of working.

'Colin brings to the young people and adults the Good News of Jesus with great enthusiasm. He has the great gift of telling stories which he uses in communicating the stories of the Bible to young people. He has been instrumental in bring many of our young people to know Jesus.' – V Greene, St Deny's Kirkby la Thorpe

'Colin communicates with freshness, relevance and enthusiasm the timeless truths of the Bible to children and young people of our generation.' – Rev Anthony Walker, Spalding Baptist Church
