Resources

We all benefit from a multisensory approach to understanding and engaging with the bible.

Think about the children, which senses they can make good use of and the activity planned. Let your imagination run wild

  • Looking:    pictures, posters, photos, puppets, sign language, symbols on timetable schedules, video, torches, bubbles, glittery paper, hats, mirrors, reward stickers and chart, 'traffic light'  cards, communication books, etrans,
  • Touching:  objects to help understanding, stress balls, concentrators, a 'snuggle' blanket, beanbags, foot washing, story bags, watersprays, musical instruments, finger painting, pencil grips,  sand trays with small figures, parachutes,  playdough, different materials, dressing up, bowls of rice, pebbles, jelly
  • Smelling:    spices, perfumes, essential oils, fresh bread, old fish!, 'smelly' felt tip pens, chocolate, flowers, trees
  • Listening:   music, instruments, songs including a child's name, paper rustling, wind (use a fan) blowing, water splashing,  boom boxes, traffic, whispers,  talking buttons, timers,
  • Tasting:     sweet and sour - sugar and lemon,  bread, fruits, salt, hot and cold, smoothies, drinks, water, locusts( I did find a website where you can buy them for eating! )
