Hungary, with a population of around 10 million, is an exciting country to visit. Budapest, its capital on the River Danube, is a beautiful city and a centre with many tourist attractions. In the last century Hungary was part of the Warsaw Pact – the communist dominated countries of Eastern/Central Europe, but has emerged since the 1990’s into a thriving democracy with significant opportunities for cross cultural mission.

Frontline

Frontline run children’s holiday clubs throughout July and SU Hungary invite team members who are native English speakers to assist on these clubs. ‘It was a fantastic opportunity to explore another country while serving God!’ said one Frontline volunteer. ‘I felt immersed in the Hungarian culture and language because I was living with the local team for three weeks. The Hungarians I met were so friendly and helpful and the children were all so eager to learn. It was an absolutely marvellous experience! And I made so many friends.’

Volunteers help with practical tasks so that the holiday clubs run smoothly, teach conversational English, Bible stories and songs. Love for children (mostly in the 7 to 13 age bracket) and a desire to share Jesus are the two greatest qualifications. Explore the SU Hungary website (it can be read in English) and if you want any more details use the Contact button below.

In 2019 20 to 25 volunteers from England and Wales are required to help run 12 or more children’s holiday clubs in July. If you apply later than 15 June, please go the  and apply direct to SU Hungary.

The price of this mission includes your accommodation, most food and transport in Hungary and costs to SU Hungary, England and Wales for caring for you. If the cost is too high but you are keen to volunteer please get in touch with us as we offer limited financial assistance.

There will be a Frontline Hungary training day on Saturday 15th June 2019 at Scripture Union National Office in Milton Keynes from 10am to 4pm. This is an important part of being on team.

Whilst we will accept volunteers who are unable to attend the training day, our experience is that those who do attend are more prepared for the experience and enjoy their time in Hungary more.
