Media release: Fresh Bread!

Scripture Unions flagship Bible Reading Guide gets sliced up.
Date: 05/01/2007

Daily Bread, which has been helping people of all ages grow closer to God for 70 years, is being revamped to make it easier for God’s people to live Christ-centred, godly lives.

The first edition of Daily Bread in 2007 builds on the major overhaul of four years ago with a fresh new look aiming to make the guide more up-to-date, attractive and accessible to existing and potential readers.

The new Daily Bread places fresh emphasis on using the Bible and reading the daily passages in context. Features include an easier-to-read page layout to make daily Bible reading as simple as possible, and helpful articles on issues core to Christian discipleship and living. There is also news and challenges from the mission front as a variety of Scripture Union workers help people to think about how they can share God’s Word with children and young people through their various ministries. In the first issue, published in January, John Grayston, SU’s Director of Theology, writes on how to read the Bible.

Tricia Williams, editor of Daily Bread is excited by the new developments: ‘While God’s Word remains the same, the world around us, and the way we live in it, doesn’t,’ says Tricia. ‘We want Daily Bread to help people hear from God in ways which are relevant to their lives today. Daily Bread is a leader among many Bible reading guides for adult Christians, read by nearly forty-thousand people and we hope the new guide will give words for life to many of God’s people as they grow in relationship with him through the Bible and prayer.’
