Basic values of Light

These values are intrinsic to all the products and services in the Light range and affect every aspect of the materials: each session, each activity, each piece of writing, each illustration – everything that comes together to create Light.

The Bible is God-centred. The whole Bible shows us that God is Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Even little children can have big minds when it comes to thinking about God.

  • Children and young people can have a relationship with God by trusting in Jesus Christ, and can love him with all their heart. They can worship and serve him at any age, in ways that suit who they are and all God has given them.
  • Biblical faith involves the head (belief), the heart (trust) and the hands (action), and hopefully a direction set for life (will). Careful work with children and young people can encourage all-round faith.
  • Children and young people can learn in many different, enjoyable ways. Helping them get to grips with the same learning through a variety of activities can be fun but is also vital for good learning.
  • Children and young people can hear God for themselves as they explore the Bible in a group, but also when they open it on their own or with a caring adult. But they need a lot of help.
  • Children and young people are naturally very curious. Curiosity fuels their desire to learn. They need the time and space to ask honest questions and to work through the answers with others who love God and know what he says.
