Spread the word!

To help you get your story in the press, we’ve compiled a media release template for you to use to send to your local papers, radio stations etc. Simply follow these instructions and away you go!

Pre-event (1 or 2 weeks before the event)

  1. If appropriate (having obtained permission from the school) call and invite the local newspapers, television or radio stations along to take photos, film activities and get quotes.

Post-event

Follow the instructions below and use the media template and sample downloads on the right of this page to help to generate media interest.

  1. Amend the template to make it unique for your event (appropriate dates, name of schools, churches, quotes from churches and teachers etc)
  2. Email or post the media release FAO News desk (or the name of the News Editor if you are able to find it out) no later than one week after you have delivered/presented It’s Your Move! to the school.
  3. Include one or two photographs (as jpegs if you are emailing the media release).
  4. Try to follow it up with a phone call a few days later. This will remind and encourage journalists to act on the media release.
