Say 'cheese'!

A good photo is often the thing that determines whether a journalist will run with a story in their newspaper.

If you have an amateur or professional photographer in your It’s Your Move! group or church, ask them to take some pictures. They will know what to do!

If not, following these basic rules will help;

  • Engage the children and ask them to pose for you. Don’t take a surprise picture when half of the group might not be looking.
  • Go for either a big group (class photo) or just ask one or two pupils to pose.
  • Make sure they are holding a copy of It’s Your Move! so the picture tells the story.
  • If you’re outside, make sure the sun is behind you, but try to keep it out of the children’s eyes too!
  • Ask the children to smile. It makes a world of difference!
