No girls allowed on this one! Instead it's chock-full of skills and challenges. Get yourself equipped with axemanship – you can chop wood whenever you want once you’ve got your award! You can also learn basic first aid and become an expert (but responsible!) fire lighter – perfect for toasting those marshmallows. Last but not least, you will build your own bivouac to sleep inside for one night in the forest.
Can your cabin build the best dam? Become a master in orienteering and map reading and then explore the forest before cooling off in the pool. Conquer the ropes course; relax and enjoy the entertainment around the massive camp fire.
Find out how you can get closer to God through cabin groups, videos, dramas, and learning some great new songs. Join a great bunch of people by coming to take part in 2012’s Great Wood eXperience and learn more about the great Creator himself.
This holiday is based at Great Wood (TA5 1HN) which is a secure site surrounded by woods owned by Scripture Union in the Quantocks near Bridgwater. Holidays are able to use the outdoor swimming pool, low ropes course and archery facilities as well as explore the fantastic countryside nearby. Young people sleep in en-suite cabins with 4-8 people per room.
The site is suitable for wheelchairs but please contact the holiday leader BEFORE booking to discuss specific programme issues.
