Many people consider Romania the most beautiful country in Eastern Europe. It has majestic castles, fascinating medieval towns, beautiful landscapes, a diverse wildlife and dazzling artistic treasures.

Holiday Bible Clubs and Camps are proving to be an excellent way for Scripture Union Romania to work with churches, children and young people. The holiday clubs are in lots of ways similar to ones churches organise in the UK and are in particular a great way of reaching families not connected with churches and are a cheaper alternative to a residential camp. The camps provide an opportunity to cement relationships made throughout the year as well for those new to Scripture Union activities.

Frontline

As always, the aim of the clubs and camps is to present the gospel to children and teens, many of whom have never heard it before; and to encourage daily Bible reading. Each action-packed day helps the children and teens get to know each other and have lots of fun within a caring Christian environment.

English-speaking volunteers are a major asset to the holiday clubs and camps because children and parents are attracted by the opportunity to improve their English. Therefore UK team members will be involved in giving basic English lessons to the children attending. Training will be given in how to do this before the holiday club! You will also be involved in small groups, games, songs, drama depending on where your gifts lie. Volunteers usually have a wealth of skills to share, but many say that they gain so much themselves in terms of personal experience and developing their personal relationship with God.

UK team members work alongside Romanian staff and volunteers in different parts of Romania, those involved with a holiday club stay with local families or in a house party setting and on camp everyone stays together.
