    Brief Description

Scripture Union’s mission is to go and make disciples of Jesus Christ among children, young people and families.

Empowered by God’s Holy Spirit, we are working energetically towards our vision of thousands more children, young people and families who are committed followers of Jesus Christ by proclaiming Jesus to children and young people, inspiring Christian leaders and equipping Christians to know and serve God better through using the Bible.

We are looking for gifted and experienced Christians, who share our vision, belief and values, to share in the volunteer leadership of our movement. We have a vacancy for someone to join our Board of Trustees.

As a trustee you would support the executive team in setting vision, strategic planning, evaluating the movement’s progress and ensuring accountability to stakeholders.  The ideal candidate will combine strategic vision, creative thinking and sound independent judgement. Broad experience of the Christian church and a heart’s desire to participate in our mission is essential, and we would particularly welcome candidates who are already actively engaged in Scripture Union ministry with experience in any of the following areas:

    • Secondary education
    • Face-to-face ministry with children and young people in a church and community focus
    • Digital and/or print publishing

The role requires attendance at six Board meetings each year, held on weekday afternoons. In addition, attendance is required at two residential Council meetings which follow on from two of these Board meetings throughout a Saturday. There will also be a limited number of supporting meetings along with the associated preparation.

If you would like to find out more, or know of someone who could be interested, please contact Sue Winning on 01908 856135 or download a detailed role description and application form.
