All about Christ: Our commitment to Christ is the primary motivation for our ministry. We acknowledge our dependence on Christ through our prayers and it is a privilege to be part of a praying community.
Biblical thinking from beginning to end: The Bible undergirds our mission. Engaging with the Bible, and ministry to children and young people, are important biblical mandates, and the idea that the people of God have something to share is inescapable in the Old and New Testaments. Moreover, the Bible shapes the development of our methods. As we develop new ways of sharing the good news with the next generation, we are careful to test our thinking against the biblical models.
Centre of expertise: No church can be an expert in everything, so Scripture Union aims to provide practical expertise in the realm of evangelism and discipleship of children, young people and families − in general and in the context of schools and of other faith communities or cultures, for example.
Developing community: Our goal is to ensure the ministry ‘whole’ is greater than the sum of its parts as churches and individuals do, together, what they could not or would not do on their own. So we help churches work together to support a local schools worker, develop year-round mission across a whole town or area, or reach into local schools.
