Scripture Union’s vision is for every Christian to be engaging enthusiastically with the Bible and growing in their faith; every church to be fully equipped to make disciples of children and young people; and every community to have a vital Christian witness to children, young people and families.
Empowered by God’s Holy Spirit, we are working energetically towards that vision by proclaiming Jesus to children and young people, inspiring Christian leaders and equipping Christians to know and serve God better through using the Bible. We are looking for gifted and experienced Christians who share our vision, belief and values to share in the volunteer leadership of our movement.
We have a vacancy for a Chartered Accountant to join our Trustee Board and take on the role of Hon Treasurer. As a trustee you would support the executive team in setting vision, strategic planning, evaluating the movement’s progress and ensuring accountability to stakeholders. As Treasurer you would draw on your experience from business or charity contexts to provide oversight of the financial aspects of the movement: supporting staff and reporting to the Board on the financial health of the movement.
The ideal candidate will combine technical expertise, strategic vision with good independent judgement and an ability to think creatively, along with a broad experience of the Christian Church and a heart’s desire to serve God’s Kingdom in this way. The role requires attendance at six Board meetings each year, held on week day afternoons. In addition, two Council meetings follow on from two of these Board meetings throughout a Saturday. There will also be a limited number of supporting meetings along with the associated preparation.
