They can have a depth of spirituality which can be both matter of fact and breathtaking. Splash! will help you encourage your 5 to 8s in their daily lives with God.

December 2011 - Good and faithful God

This Christmas series covers the wellknown story by focusing on how God kept his promises.

In the first session we discover the promises God gave Mary. The children are likely to know the outcome of the  story, so, when they hear the promises God gave, they will know God kept his promise. This will help our 5 to 8s know God will keep his promises to them too.

Joseph had to act out his faith by marrying Mary in order to see God fulfil the promise given to him. Session 10 will help our 5 to 8s to start to understand the concept of covenant: simple obedience leading to promises being kept.

The promise that has been kept is announced to the shepherds in Session 11. Our children will already be excited about the approach of Christmas. Help them to be excited about the good news that the angels bring.

In Session 12 we explore the wise men’s response to Jesus – how their worship included their gifts, their respect as they knelt before him and also the time and money it cost them to travel to Bethlehem. Our 5 to 8s can explore how they, too, can give gifts of worship to Jesus this Christmas.

The final session is designed for ages 3–11. If you are meeting on Christmas Day, celebrate the birth of the promised Saviour together.
