Children aged 5 and under are bubbling with life; everything is new, exciting and just waiting to be discovered. They are in the busiest time of their lives when they will learn more than at any other time and, crucially, when their brains establish learning pathways. They are receptive to God, to hearing him in ways that many of us have lost as we have grown up, and to having the sort of faith that Jesus wants us all to have.

December 2011 - Good news for everyone
Christmas is coming! For many Bubbles-age children, this will be the first time they have heard the story; for others, it will be a year since they encountered it. So it is important that, over the next few sessions, they hear the whole story.
There are two activity threads running through the Christmas series. A puppet theatre is used as one method of telling the Bible story, with the children making and using their own puppets – a great way for them to tell the story to you and to friends and family at home. A second regular feature encourages the children to find out about Christmas traditions around the world.
For some children, the run-up to Christmas will be too chaotic and they will need some quieter activities. Others will want to find out more about these exciting stories. Amidst the big group activities there are also some, in each session, that allow the children to retell or explore the Christmas story on their own or in small groups.
We have the happy privilege of showing our Bubbles-age children that God sent Jesus, his Son, for them. Keep this amazing thought in mind, as you choose which activities will best suit your group and your situation.
Christmas Day this year is on a Sunday and Session 13 gives you a full programme in case you are meeting that day; or you could use the activities to supplement other sessions; or as activities for younger children in an all-age Christmas event.
