Lifepath Brinkburn 2013

For the third successive year Brinkburn Priory in Northumberland was festooned with banners and bunting in preparation for another Lifepath. After months of prayer and planning the week was upon us and God blessed us with glorious sunshine every step of the way.

Just fewer than 500 children and their staff joined us over the week to look at the Lifepath of St Cuthbert.  Our team of amazing volunteers ensured the event was the success that it was.  One pupil’s comment was “This is the best school trip ever in the history of school trips!”  Dedicated Pilgrim Guides welcomed the children and guided them through the day; talented workshop leaders provided high quality learning experiences such as hand-bells, felt making,

tiles, pyrography, scriptorium, gardening and games.  Chris Hudson once again enthralled with his Bible stories in the Jesus Journey and the Prayer Journey room was a very special place to spend some time.  This year we had an artist in residence for two days and a beautiful St Cuthbert’s cross was created by the children.

One member of staff who had been at the first Lifepath Brinkburn in 2011 had this to say, “When we came in 2011 we said then it was the most well organised event we, as a school, had been on and I had concerns coming back this year in case I would be disappointed. However you have raised the standard and this year has been outstanding.”

It has once again been such a privilege to be involved with Lifepath; to work with such amazing people and share our Christian faith with our local schools.

Another child, when asked what they had learnt today, shared this thought, “I’ve learnt that St Cuthbert was just an ordinary man but God helped him be a super hero, so with God’s help I could be a super hero too.”

God blessed us all and although the final Friday was tinged with sadness as we said farewell to Gordon Innes (one of the founding core team members) there is a real sense that something special has been put in place at Brinkburn and long may it continue.
